Road to success – Advice from successful Vietnamese women in tech

While men continue to be the dominant group in the technology field, there are traits women possess that make them more and more outstanding in STEM. In this article, I will present the advice from multiple women working in the technology field.

"Never stop learning, don't be afraid to change for the better"

That was the revelation of Ms. Pham Thi Quynh Trang - Director of Operations (COO) of Lazada Vietnam when talking about the secret to helping the unit thrive in today's changing technology environment. According to the female COO, it is each person’s perspective to choose whether to change for the better or not, so choose the right and appropriate action.

But efforts to adapt to market fluctuations do not always bring positive results and many times businesses are faced with choices that are decisive for their next journey. It is important to not only change but also determine the right direction, market, right products and personnel to accompany. "We can't always choose to close, so when faced with difficulties and need to decide to survive, we choose to be steadfast with our vision and mission," Vice President of Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA) and Sconnect Communications Director Quyen Pham confided.

"I think that sophistication, flexibility, and willingness to learn are the advantages of women when working in the tech field, which is inherently too rigid and always conforms to standards. These characteristics can help women to quickly adapt and keep up with technological changes," Nguyen Bach Diep, FRT Chairman added.

"Don't let yourself get exhausted"

"Work burnout is a real problem that any woman can experience in the tech industry. It's the state of mental or physical exhaustion that causes you to feel low and unmotivated. Therefore, make sure you always keep a balance between work and life and remember not to let yourself become exhausted," the Director of WBSys shared about the important things she learned during her work journey.

"There are 3 pieces of advice I often give young employees. The first is to proactively learn. When the boss is too busy to show you everything, you can still learn from observing them or reading their books, then transforming that into a lesson. Second, be a master at what you do, always think of ways to perform tasks better. Finally, consider challenges as opportunities, not reasons to give up. They will give you a lot of experiences and chances to develop new skills that will become advantageous when you advance in your career,"; Le Lan Chi, ZaloPay General Director advised.
